Annual POW Race Day 2024: A Fantastic Day at Haydock Park Races
Professionals of Wigan (POW) celebrated yet another successful annual Race Day event on Friday, 24th May 2024, at the prestigious Haydock Park Races. Sponsored by Stephenson’s Solicitors LLP and Wigan Central Bar, this event attracted 130 enthusiastic attendees, marking it as a significant highlight in the Wigan business networking calendar.
Organised by Lisa McAllister and Jamie Grimshaw, co-founders of Professionals of Wigan, the event was meticulously planned to ensure a day full of networking and camaraderie amongst the Wigan Borough business community.
The success of the event was bolstered by the generous sponsorship from Stephenson’s Solicitors LLP and Wigan Central Bar. Their support helped create an environment where business and pleasure seamlessly came together. With 130 attendees, the turnout reflected the growing popularity and importance of this annual event for many local businesses.
A much-anticipated part of the day was the sweepstakes, which added an extra layer of excitement to the races. Participants eagerly awaited the results, with a few lucky winners taking home some great cash prizes and bragging rights! The sweepstakes not only heightened to the excitement of the races but also created a friendly yet competitive spirit among the attendees. It was also fantastic to be able to support local charity Epic Hope at the event on the day.
The Annual Professionals of Wigan POW Race Day 2024 was a resounding success, thanks to the excellent organisation by Lisa McAllister and Jamie Grimshaw, the support of the sponsors, and the enthusiastic participation of the attendees. The event underscored the importance of community and collaboration in driving business success.

Looking Ahead: Wigan Borough Business Awards
With the POW Race Day over for another year (boo!), the team at POW are eagerly looking forward to their next major event, the Wigan Borough Business Awards. The awards, proudly co-hosted by another local networking group, Fubhub is scheduled to take place on 28th September at the Brick Community Stadium. This event promises to be another cornerstone in the Wigan business community’s calendar.
The Wigan Borough Business Awards will not only celebrate the achievements of local businesses but also provide an excellent opportunity for networking and recognising the hard work and dedication of business professionals in the area. As with the Race Day, the awards evening is expected to draw a substantial crowd of approximately 400 business professionals, and will offer a platform for businesses to celebrate and support each other together.
